Description

This abstract painting is visually similar to the very first existing photographs, with a light veiled by a diaphanous texture, giving the impression that the natural landscape becomes supernatural or even artificial, like a false theatre setting. I had to use a whole game of dilutions to create this ethereal atmosphere, CLOSE to Japanese prints and their misty mountains. The light was rendered by the white background of the canvas without adding material to avoid any heaviness in the workmanship. Thus, the different areas of the canvas were connected by a series of exclusively vertical brush strokes, reflecting in a kind of global blur the direct relationship between the sky and the earth.
